Mrs. Jane Johansen To All Instructors

After becoming a Christ-follower at Indiana University, the Lord changed my career path from business to teaching. Upon graduation, I taught Speech, Drama, and English for 4 years at Crystal Lake Central High School, where I met my husband. I "retired" from teaching when our oldest child was born. A few years later, I became a home schooling mom and spent the next 25 years enjoying learning alongside our 4 children. During that time, I taught a few classes in writing, P.E., Speech, and Drama. One of our favorite home schooling activities was our involvement with EverReady Speech and Debate Club, which I led as their director for 4 years. That experience grew a desire in me to challenge students in their communication skills to be better equipped to give a reason for the hope that lies within us (1 Peter 3:15).

Our 3 oldest children are all married and we love spending time together. Caleb works in marketing, Andrew is a chiropractor, and Anna is a journalist with World News Group. Leah graduated from Heritage in 2020, but I continue to do some home schooling with the little girls we care for one day per week. I love spending time with family, reading great literature, hiking, camping, and walking with friends.
