Highlights of the 2012 Camp:
New $250 Scholarship: The Linda L. Cain “Pursuit of Excellence” Scholarship will be awarded to the high school student who writes the winning essay on the value of pursuing excellence in music. The essay should be one page in length (double spaced) and should be submitted as an e-mail attachment sent to the following e-mail address: foxvalleymusiccamp@gmail.com.
Instrument “petting zoo” for 3rd – 5th grade campers presented by Cassandra Strings and Piano Trends Music Store.
Huntley Brown – well-known Jazz/Gospel/Reggae pianist – will be performing on Wednesday, June 27 at 3:30 pm in Herrick Chapel — all are welcome to come hear his inspiring, explosive playing!
Contemporary Worship Band for guitar players, pop vocalists, keyboardists and drummers.
Classical ensembles for traditional instrumentalists and voice students.
IMEA Audition Prep for string players. Even if your student doesn’t intend on auditioning for the IMEA competition in the fall, this ensemble is still open to advanced string players interested in a challenging ensemble experience.
We have financial aid available for students in need, plus a Sibling discount and an “Early Bird” discount (Early Bird Discount expires May 25th). I am offering four math skills classes over the summer. One is for middle school students (5th or 6th grade), one is for students transitioning from middle school math into PreAlgebra, one is for students transitioning from PreAlgebra into Algebra 1, and the other is for students transitioning from Algebra 1 into Geometry.

Each class will be 5 sessions on the following Mondays:

June 11, June 25, July 16, July 30, and August 13

1 pm – 2 pm: Algebra 1 transitioning to Geometry
2 pm – 3 pm: middle school transitioning to PreAlgebra
3 pm – 4 pm: middle school
4 pm – 5 pm: PreAlgebra transitioning to Algebra 1

The cost is $25 per session, plus a $10 copy fee (total fee for the class: $135). The classes will be held in my home in Arlington Heights.

We’re going to have fun, and keep our math skills strong. Please contact me if you are interested in joining us!

Last week will be July 23, 24, 25 3-5 p.m.
Plus after classroom, the 12 hours of behind the wheel all according to your schedule.
That is 6 hours driving and 6 hours in the car-observation.
You can miss up to 4 classes, just need to make them up on your own time.

To All Heritage Parents:

We have a really great group of kids, elected as our Student Council, interested in putting together some fun social and service opportunities for the student body next year. However, we need two parents to step forward — two moms, two dads or a husband and wife team — to guide next year’s Student Council. It doesn’t matter if the parent has a student serving on the Student Council or not.

The responsibilities include:
meeting with the Student Council once a month;
advising the students in their decision-making;
being willing to attend events and activities;
facilitating a good working relationship between the students;
enjoy working with teens;
offer spiritual input and guidance;
NOTE: being a Parent Adviser would fulfill your service requirement at Heritage, plus you get a fee reduction.
Simply put: there can’t be a Student Council if there aren’t any parents willing to advise them. So…

If you feel God is tugging at your heart to serve Heritage in this way, would you let the Heritage Board know? The current Student Council would like to “hand-off” to the new Student Council sometime in June, so the new Council can start planning for the new school year. It would be preferable if the new Parent Advisers were in place for the hand-off.
